About Mike

Mike Etnier has worked as a zooarchaeologist in the Pacific Northwest since 1997. His main research interest lies in historical ecology— that is, understanding the degree to which the ecology of various species has or has not changed throughout long periods of history. His favorite group of animals to study is the pinnipeds (seals and sea lions). Mike lives with his wife Misty Nikula in Bellingham, where he also works as a substitute teacher and builds wooden boats.
